Garshana is a traditional Ayurvedic technique of self care dry massage, commonly referred to as “dry-brushing,” and is used for lymphatic massage to help to stimulate and reinvigorate the skin and lymphatic system, enhance blood circulation, and the release of accumulated toxins.
Some dry body brushing benefits include:
- Buffs away dry and dead skin cell’s on the skin’s surface leaving softer, healthier-looking skin
- Stimulates the lymphatic system, improves blood circulation and supports the release of toxins
- Helps to reduce cellulite by breaking up fat deposits
- Firms, tightens, plumps and smooth’s skin
- Can prevent ingrown hairs
If you are trying to rid your body of toxins, don’t risk using a brush that is covered in chemicals. You deserve the best quality.
Considering plenty of dead skin cells are sloughed off while dry brushing and build up in the brush’s bristles, it’s important to clean your brush regularly. As the timber is untreated, it is important to note that special care is needed to maintain your brush.
- When washing the brush with natural anti-bacterial soap (such as tea tree), try to keep the water on just the bristles and then pad the bristles into a towel to remove as much excess water as possible. This will speed up the drying time and reduce any chance of the brush developing mildew. Wash your brush every 1-2 weeks.
- Ensure the entire brush is dry before using again, any water residue left in the brush will soften the bristles and reduce the effectiveness of dry brushing.
